Work to create a fantastic new artwork in Spondon was officially unveiled on Saturday 30th October.
The Rainbow Bridge project saw a complete transformation of the underneath of the bridge that passes over Station Road in Spondon. The path below the bridge forms part of the Spondon Linear Park, following the old canal path route.
The 'Rainbow Bridge' got its name from a previous project to add colour to the underside of the bridge but that paintwork was looking very tired and had suffered from graffiti too. As the video below shows, the new design has been quite a transformation!
Local Spondon artist Carla Dee, known professionally as Love Lalaland, produced the brand new design and gave up many hours of her time, in all weathers, the turn it into a reality on the bridge. She was assisted by a large number of additional brilliant volunteers too with the project being coordinated by the Friends of Spondon Park community group.
The end result is an amazing, colourful and fun tribute to Spondon and features many of the local landmarks from around the village.
