The historical society meet monthly in the Village Hall and have a wealth of information about the history of Spondon and the surrounding area. You can contact them on Derby 678781 or attend their monthly meeting on the 2nd Monday of each month (7:30pm). The society also has its own website which is includes a fascinating online archive of local historical photos, documents and other material.
